Circles Everywhere in La La Land

This week in La La Land we're seeing circles everywhere  I started making a circle card and had planned to pop the second circle on top - but that didn't give me enough room to play so by moving it off to the side it not only gave me space to play but it also made my card a little more interesting  The flower stamp comes with Marci and I used a gold paint pen to help tie them back to the DP I used. The black rhinestones add texture and sparkle.

Magnolia Down Under Challenge #197

This week at Magnolia Down Under Challenges we are asking you to use Lace and Flowers on your project - pretty easy huh??? I had great fun putting this together and colouring up the background. I don't do it very often so it's nice to do something different and it's one of the joys of having extra time to craft.

Don't forget to check out the amaing inspiration from the rest of my MDUC teamies on our BLOG.

Inspiration Picture

This week in La La Land we're working to an inspiration picture - see left. I've tried to use the colours and elements in the photos to create my card and went with paper piecing for Marci's dress. I reckon it's ended up looking a little retro - what do you think???

Bling it On in La La Land

This week in La La Land we are using sparkle and bling - and lots of it! Now this challenge is close to my heart - I do love a bit of sparkle! I decided to create a watery scene using one of La La Land's wonderful shadow boxes. I used some liquid pearls to add some texture and shine to the shells and then coloured the rest up with my copics. I then finished it all off with some pearls. These frames take colour well although your colours may be slightly different to normal as the base isn't white.

Magnolia Down Under Challenge #195

This week at Magnolia Down Under Challenges we have a fabulous sketch for you to play along with. I loved the filigree frame in the sketch so thought I would start my card with that element. I cut my frame and base out using my Silhouette Cameo and then used some shabby white frantage on the frame to give it some sparkly fun.

Now it may seem I've started on my Christmas cards a tad early - the truth is this Tilda was one of the few that fit my frame - I cut it a tad too small - LOL. But there are never any mistakes in crafting - only opportunities - and this one means I have begun work on my Christmas card stash ;) .

Don't forget to check out what the rest of my teamies have come up with on our BLOG.

Buttons and Bows in La La Land

This week in La La Land we are playing with Buttons and Bows. I thought it would be fun to make an oversized button for my card so I used my cameo to help me cut it out and then covered it with some patterned paper. A bit of string threaded through the holes and tied off with a bow and half my card was done. Once I had finished it off I realised the weight of the giant button meant the card kept rolling off to the right - oops - the joys of a circular card! I used some on the waste card from the "button centres" to counterbalance the card and stuck it on the back and it worked - my card now stands up like it should - live and learn - LOL.

La La Land's Copic Marker Storage

Have you seen the fabulous new marker kits for sale at La La Land Crafts??? If you haven't you can check out the different designs for different markers HERE

The one I have is the Sketch Holder Kit but it also holds Ciaos if you're like me and have a mix of markers. The kits comes flat packed and is made from pale card, but due to the fabulous design it is ultra sturdy when it's put together. The pale card also takes colour really nicely if you want to doll it up a little. Irina has put together a Youtube video of the assembly for you HERE.

I decided I wanted to make mine look like it has been sitting around for years and made from aged wood so I went back in time to my faux wood tutorial HERE - although with the cream base of the card I needed to swipe a heavier base of SU More Mustard on at the start.

The decorative pieces were simply swiped with dark brown ink and then glazed before attaching. If you do this gently on the LLLC badge pieces the detail will pop out - just be careful not to be too heavy handed or the ink will settle into the grooves and make the design disappear.

Distressing It in La La Land

This week in La La Land we are distressing. It's great fun to scrunch and scratch up paper - very therapeutic - LOL. Distressing also adds some fabulous textures. I also used some frantage embossing powder and white paint to distress up my project pieces. The chipboard sentiment is from Scrapmatts.

Magnolia Down Under Challenge #193

This week at Magnolia Down Under Challenges we have a fun challenge for you - we are asking you to go green baby and recycle. I came up with a really fun project using a black plastic 3D chandelier my daughter had decided was rubbish after it had been hanging in her room for the past 8 years or so. It was certainly something a little different to play with and I decided to use my Magnolia dies to dress it up. I had planned to pop a mini world Tilda in there too but decided it was fine like it was. I did use some shabby white frantage embossing powder over the black first - to lay a sparkly shabby chic base for my die-cuts and to tone the black down a little.

As I was taking my photos - not an easy job with a 3D project at times!!!! - I noticed the shadow on the wall so snapped a shot of that too....what a fun silhouette!

And don't forget to see the fabulous recycling inspiration from the rest of the MDUC DT on our BLOG.

Butterflies in La La Land

This week in La La Land we are focussing on butterflies and/or birds. I figured Faerie Marci was the perfect choice to use given the winged theme. I cut the shaped card out using my cameo and had fun decorating it up in darker tones than I would normally use for a faerie card - but I love the definition the black gives. The chipboard sentiment "cloud" is from Scrapmatts.
